About Me
Hello! I’m Jillian, a dedicated undergraduate student at Oswego State University where I am studying Human Development and Psychology. I am from Pleasantville, New York, where I have lived my whole life and still call home when I am not at college. Growing up as one of four children, I am no stranger to the joyful chaos of a lively household, whether that is juggling various sports and activities or just keeping up with the energy of kids running around. In my free time, you can often find me enjoying the simple pleasures of life. I love to spend time with family and friends, go on walks, read, play volleyball, ski in the winter, and go to the beach in the summer! I also have a passion for photography, taking pictures everywhere I go, whether on my phone or professional camera, I love to document the beauty of the world around me.
My journey into childcare began with a childhood filled with love for dolls, transforming into a nurturing role when my younger sister and brother were born. I embraced the responsibility of caring for them with the same kindness and care I gave my dolls. At 12 years old, I began my first job as a mother’s helper, and since then, I have had the pleasure of building a network of families who trust me with their children. I find it incredibly rewarding to be a familiar face in their homes and to watch their children grow and thrive!
In addition to babysitting, I have been working at Pleasantville Children’s Center (PCC), a local non-profit preschool, for four consecutive summers! Witnessing the positive impact of a supportive and structured environment at PCC inspired me to create similar experiences for the children I care for as a babysitter. Another note to add is that I am First Aid and CPR certified for infants, children, and adults, ensuring the utmost safety for your little ones.
Throughout my college experience so far, I have immersed myself in development and psychology courses, gaining valuable insights into how children best think and learn. Understanding the significance of positive relationships and the impact of early experiences has deeply influenced my approach to childcare. It’s not just about babysitting; it’s about creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to flourish and be themselves!
My Mission
I believe that childhood is a time for exploration, creativity, and unbridled play. My mission is simple yet profound: to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can truly be themselves and indulge in the joy of play.
I understand that every child is unique, with their own interests, talents, and quirks. That's why I prioritize connecting with each child on a personal level, fostering a loving and caring atmosphere where they feel valued and understood. My approach encourages children to explore, try new things, and discover the world around them, all under my watchful eye. Through my commitment to excellence and genuine passion for childcare, I aim to empower children to thrive and grow, today and into the future.
